About Zorik

For Zorik Michaeli, working with horses has never been about following a formula. It has been a lifelong process of learning to understand how horses think, how they respond to pressure, and how much can change when a horse truly understands what is being asked.

His Story
Zorik grew up in Israel, far from American cowboy culture, and learned horsemanship the long way: years of working with horses, observing them, and learning from each one. From 1998 to 2010 he owned and operated Cowboys’ Valley Ranch in Israel. In the US he worked at the renowned Pitzer Ranch in Nebraska, and today he trains at his ranch in Georgia.

Over 40 years his work has included reining, ranch riding, working cow horse, AQHA competition, colt starting, groundwork, and corrective training. But the disciplines have never defined his approach. The horse in front of him does.

How He Works
His philosophy is simple: teach the thought before asking for the movement. Instead of forcing a position or repeating an exercise until the horse gives in, Zorik looks first at where the horse’s attention is, what it understands, and what is keeping it from finding the answer. Pressure is information. Release is confirmation. The goal is not just the correct movement, but understanding behind it.

The Rider Matters Too
Riders need to understand what their body, hands, legs, timing, and focus are communicating. Much of Zorik’s work is helping riders notice the small changes in attention, tension, and balance that come before a problem or a breakthrough.

A horse that understands. A rider who understands. And a partnership built on communication rather than force.
